Chesterhouse has a very active and robust screening programme. We have a remedial teacher employed at the school as well as on-site occupational and speech and language therapists. The screening programme has been introduced to ensure that all issues around your child’s ability to optimally perform at school are dealt with from the beginning of their school life in our Reception classes. It is our school’s philosophy that intervention is dealt with early, as this will ensure that their progress for the remainder of their school life is positive. We do the following screening programmes in the Reception classes:
- Weekly group stimulation sessions are conducted by Occupational Therapists in the Reception classes.
- Annual professional Occupational Therapy, Visual, Hearing and Speech Screening is arranged for the Reception children
Our staff development programme ensures that we continuously enrich teachers’ broad education knowledge through further workshops that are organised on a regular basis. These workshops address topics like hand eye coordination, visual perception difficulties, ADHD and autism among many others.

This educational/ therapeutic intervention continues right through the pupil’s school career for as long as is necessary.
