The Chesterhouse Philosophy

We base our belief on the fact that schooling should be measured on how well we are developing self confidence, independence and responsibility within our student body. We nurture creative students who recognize excellence and who will not be content with mediocrity. Hence, it is our responsibility to develop and nurture young people of character.

How do we do this?

§       Our focus is on the individual through a process of active engagement of the young mind

§       We believe in building our educational environment around critical thinking, responsibility, accountability and skills. We nurture the individual in such a way as to unlock their talents

§       We provide a pastoral support system which focuses on the academic, social and emotional well being of each student

§       Our academic programme is designed to promote excellence through a range of learning styles. We have developed a curriculum based on the South African National Core Curriculum alongside the Cambridge Examinations Syndicate. Our students are well prepared for tertiary education.

§       Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom. We have an expectation that all our students participate in our sports, outdoor education cultural and clubs and societies programme.

“Education is about the whole person. It promotes interaction with content; it links ideas through integration and equips our students with the tools necessary to compete on the global stage.”
