Welcome to the Senior School

I have been involved with a number of state and independent schools in my professional development as a teacher and as a head of various departments. The attraction for me in working and serving at Chesterhouse was and continues to be the pioneering vision that the school has in two distinct and very important areas of education; the Cambridge International Examinations curriculum that is followed in our Senior School and the complimentary pastoral care that allows for each pupil to be treated as an individual with his or her own unique traits and strengths.

As Acting Head of the Senior School at Chesterhouse, I have been privileged to experience first hand how well this internationally acclaimed curriculum prepares children for the world that they enter when they leave school as well as being part of a well resourced and served emotional care programme for each child in the Senior School. As a pioneering school, we are not tied down by what can become tedious and outdated traditions, and we can therefore continuously improve our offerings and ensure that we remain abreast of how modern children think and feel. We strongly believe in the core Christian values of respect for others, good manners and a strong sense of caring for those around us both within and outside of our communities. A well rounded sense of personal responsibility and discipline is core in our pastoral care and thus we ensure that our pupils are treated with care while working hard at their academics, on the sports field or in the many cultural activities that they are involved in.  As one walks through Chesterhouse, the sense of diversity is obvious to all within the school grounds ensuring that we are indeed a working model of the South Africa of today.

I welcome you to visit our school grounds, see our children in action and meet our teachers who give much in ensuring all that our pupils deserve.
