Core Curriculum Clinics and the Homework Centre

At Chesterhouse we believe that academic support for those pupils that need assistance must be given at the school by our own teachers who know the pupils well and can identify with their particular barrier within a specific section of a specific subject. It is for this reason that we offer Core Curriculum clinics for English, Afrikaans, Mathematics and Science free of charge in the afternoons after school. Clinics are taken by teachers that teach these subjects (often the Head of Department) and focus on the areas that pupils need assistance in. Pupils can elect to attend a clinic or the suggestion is made by the subject teacher in order to assist the pupil. Parents are informed if their child is requested to attend a clinic. This programme is on offer for all pupils in the Senior School

The Senior School Homework Centre

Chesterhouse Senior School understands the importance of providing care and structure beyond the school day to our pupils. It is for this reason that we provide after school care in our Homework Centre for all pupils. This service provides good after school care for working parents and assists pupils who need the structure of a school routine and classroom.
These facilities are staffed by professional teachers and allows for pupils to attend their sports practices and matches, cultural activities and other school commitments. Homework is supervised and pupils have the opportunity to access information for school assignments at the Senior School computer lab. Pupils may elect to attend any Core Curriculum clinic that they wish to attend. Breaks during the afternoon are given to the pupils ensuring that they have a balanced approach to learning and homework.  The Homework Centre services are provided Monday to Friday until 18h00 or earlier if suitable.
